Methods of Sterilising Glass Storage Jars With Lids

1. Using the Dishwasher Method

It is the most efficient and convenient way to sterilise glass jars that have lids. This method works well for large batches. How to sterilise using a washer

  • Use a dishwasher with a high-temperature cycle that is above 65degC.

Dishwashers have only one disadvantage:

  • This method is not suitable for glass jars that are not dishwasher-safe.

2. Using the Heat Sterilisation Method

The traditional method for sterilising storage jars that have lids is to boil them. This is a simple and easy method.

Follow these steps to use this method:

  • Fill the stockpot to a level where the lids and jars are submerged.
  • Place it on a heat source. Once the water starts to boil, turn down the heat and let it simmer for 11 minutes.

This method has the following disadvantages:

  • Large batches of glass jars are time-consuming.

3. Using the Pressure Cooker Method
